One Day Away

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day.  A couple of months ago, John and I played around with the idea of going to New York for Thanksgiving and visiting my cousin, Anna.  With all the weddings and expenses we've had this year and with John's finals/graduation quickly approaching, we decided to take it easy, stay in Dunedin, and have Mama come to visit.  I hope we make a good effort to spend Thanksgiving in NY w/i the next year or two, but I'm thankful we're in FL now and don't have to travel.  There's lots to be done tonight in preparation for the feast.  I was originally dreaming about hosting Thanksgiving in our apt, but as the list of people grew, we decided John's mom's house would be more conducive.  John and I have still signed up to do all the cooking.  I'm not sure how excited he is, but I sure am!  The menu includes:  turkey (our first time baking a turkey,) ham (already cooked - just has to be heated,) cranberry sauce -yuck (store-bought,) green bean casserole, broccoli & cheese casserole, Memommie's sweet potato souffle, stuffing, mashed potatoes, crescent rolls, apple pie, and pumpkin pie (both pies are store-bought.)  Tonight will be a busy night of putting together as many casseroles as our fridge permits.  We're getting up bright and early tomorrow (the sun probably won't even be up) to participate in the Turkey Trot.  I hadn't even thought about running in it till my boss mentioned it last week.  Sarah Overstreet and I are going to run it while John, Mike, and Rick walk.  I'm glad the boys have each other, as I'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable to participate in a 7am race when they all have the day off and would rather be sleeping in.  We convinced them that there would be plenty of time for naps tomorrow and that sleeping isn't nearly as fun as a 5k.  My boss, Danielle, is also running in it, and our friends, Brooke, Eric, and their adorable son, Gavin, will be participating as well.  Looking forward to every bit of this extended weekend!
