Post-Weekend

What a great weekend!  I was able to get my 3 1/2 mile run in before the sun went down.  The cool air felt amazing... until I had to run the 2nd half directly into the wind.  Even still, it was so refreshing and invigorating, and I wish I could run in this perfectly cool weather every single day.  I spent Friday night getting ready for Erika's Bachelorette Party/Lingerie Shower.  I went to bed somewhere around 2am, after making Nutter Butter Truffles and Oreo Truffles and fruit dip, putting together the gift bags and party favors, and making sure everything was ready to load in my car Saturday.  By everything, I mean it took me 5 trips from apt to car to get everything in there.  Saturday was a fun day, as Kristin and I decorated her apt and set up for the shower.  If it was appropriate, I would post pictures of the cake Kristin made that was in the shape of a certain body part.  I would also post a picture of Pin the Macho on the Man game with Pic's face taped on it.  We played this game at my shower, with John's head taped on it.  Definitely a great shower game!  Use your imagination!  Saturday night was a blast!  We started at the Wing House since Erika loves wings, and then we made our way to Kristin's for drinks, desserts, games, gifts, and almost more laughter than my stomach and cheeks could handle.  I haven't laughed that hard since my own lingerie shower, and it reminded me just how thankful I am for good girl friends.  I'm pretty sure that Erika had an awesome night, which is exactly what we were aiming for.

Because I didn't get in bed till after 2am both Friday and Saturday nights, I skipped church yesterday morning, which doesn't happen often.  I actually woke up feeling nauseous and achy, which was another reason, besides being so tired, that I decided not to go.  John's mom and I have had plans for lunch and pedicures for the past few weeks, and we had a great time.  I am so very thankful for such an amazing mother-in-law.  She's so easy to talk to, and we've had a great relationship since John and I first started dating.  By the time our toes were done, I really wasn't feeling well at all, so I went home, tidied up a little, and then lounged for the rest of the day.  John got home around 6-6:30, and he was in bed by 8:30.  I wasn't tired enough to fall asleep, so I finished my book and watched Baby Mama.  Note to self:  don't watch movies or read books about babies till it's time to start trying.  I haven't had baby fever since we got married, but that movie almost brought it on.  I'm too excited, though, about the time John and I will get to ourselves now that he's started his new job and once he's finished with school in December.  I'm really not ready for a baby, just ready for some more time with my husband.

Our friend, Heather is coming for dinner tonight.  It's always fun to hang out with her, and we've got so many great memories that we end up laughing more than talking.  I've got a pork tenderloin in the crock pot and plan to make garlic mashed potatoes, baked broccoli, and apples with craising, cinnamon, butter, oatmeal, and brown sugar.  This is one of my favorite meals!  Not to mention, I have a few leftover truffles for dessert.

Today starts a very busy week.  Like I said, Heather is coming over tonight.  John has softball tomorrow night.  Our good friends, Jared, Renee, and Evie Davis are arriving Wednesday night in preparation for Pic & Erika's wedding on Saturday.  Other than Mama, they're our first guests since we got married.  Jared is also a groomsman in the wedding, and Evie is the flower girl.  It's going to be another super fun wedding weekend.  By the end of this weekend, these boys will have been in 3 weddings together this year, ours, Crossman's, and now Pic's- fun times with awesome friends!
