I think it has been about a week since I last updated the blog. It's been a pretty good week, from what I can remember. Last Thursday night, John and I ate at Arigato's with Brooke & Eric Koroknay, Matt & Kelly Kalil, and the Koroknay's friend, Chris. We were celebrating Eric's b-day and had a great time. I'm just so thankful for friends!
Friday night, John and I took a walk and had planned to come home and pop a pizza in the oven and enjoy a chill night at home. Just before we got back to our apt, as we were approaching Sam's Seafood, we decided that sounded like a delicious dinner - change of plans. We had to get the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer; they're amazing at Sam's! I had the ahi tuna, and John had a grouper sandwich; both choices were delicious. One of the best parts about going to Sam's is the Buy One Get One Free Strachan's coupon on their paper placemates. After a yummy dinner at Sam's, we walked over to Strachan's (best ice cream ever!) Dunedin is seriously the greatest little town ever, and we love being able to walk to so many great spots. I got the Butterfinger ice cream, and John got a scoop of b-day cake ice cream and a scoop of pumpkin pie ice cream. John was asleep by 9:30, so I called Memommie, as I do every night, did my weights, and read for about 20 minutes before I realized I'd read the same paragraph 4 times and hadn't retained any of it. Needless to say, we're getting old. We were both out by 10:45.
It was wonderful to sleep in Saturday morning. We went for a walk along Edgewater and through the Craft Fair in Downtown Dunedin. We attended a funeral at 12 for Tom Hitz, a man from church that has been battling cancer for awhile now. It was a nice service, and I was inspired by the legacy this man is leaving. In the hospital, undergoing chemo, he was witnessing to doctors and nurses and praying for them. What a testimony! Saturday afternoon, for the fun of it, we drove into Trinity and looked at a few houses we had seen online. Thumbs up on some, thumbs down on others. We also drove into Trinity East, where they're building a brand new neighborhood- loved it! We were able to go into 2 model homes, 1 too big, 1 too small, but it was fun looking anyway. We met up with Rick, Nate, and Emily after and headed over to the Celtic Festival at the Dunedin Community Center- fun times! After that, the 5 of us drove to Tarpon Turtle to have coffee and dessert- they have the most amazing bread pudding- this coming from someone who doesn't even like soggy bread.
We went to church Sunday morning but skipped out on the Thanksgiving Feast after. We drove around to look at a few more homes in the Palm Harbor area. Nate and Emily gave us such a hard time on Saturday for looking at houses in Trinity, so they pointed out some neighborhoods closer to them that they thought she should at least consider. Sunday afternoon was filled with grocery shopping, cleaning, and such in preparation for Mama's arrival and Thanksgiving. Memommie and I had a funny conversation Sunday night about cell phone alarm clocks. Somehow, we got on the subject of getting up for work, and she asked if we set a clock alarm. When I told her that we use the alarm clocks on our cell phones, you would've thought someone had just introduced her to electricity. She was amazed that cell phones have that feature. It definitely made us laugh.
Monday (yesterday) was a typical day at work. John and I met at Lowe's on our way home and got our very first Christmas tree - so exciting! We decorated it with colored lights and the few ornaments we have, as we're planning to get our childhood ornaments from our moms. I'm excited about the Christmas season, but as usual, it brings on such sadness over the people that don't have loved ones to share it with. God bless them.
